What is a Business Incubator?
In an "eggshell", an incubator is a place for entrepreneurs or new start-up businesses to come to "hatch" their ideas and to grow their business with help form a range of qualified experts in various fields. We match entrepreneurs with mentors and introduce them to options to obtain the necessary capital needed to create a successful, eventually self sustaining success.
A business incubator is a program designed to accelerate the successful development of startup companies through various business support resources and services developed and orchestrated by incubator management, and offered both in the incubator and through its network of contacts.
The MMIC Mission
Our mission is to connect entrepreneurs and businesses to the resources necessary for them to grow and succeed in mid-Michigan.
MMIC History
- The idea for MMIC was created in 2004 by the late Ted Doan. His idea was further developed and supported by the staff and board of directors of MITECH+.
- Several area foundations committed financial support for MMIC operation.
- The Dow Chemical Company is significant to MMIC’s past and present, as it is in the process of donating the 107,000-square-foot facility to MMIC.
- In February 2007, MMIC was granted 501(c)(3) status, allowing the organization to become a stand-alone entity.
